The Flight for the Land Begins!

Today
the
flight
begins.

I fly to Oregon in steel wings.

Flyover country below.

The miles stream by by the minute.

No effort.

A cup of coffee
please.

Monday
the Flight begins

.... on skinny tires
and spinning legs.

Like a weird bird migration
from west to east...

...hoping for a tail wind.

Not wings and feathers...

...but wheels and lycra

will carry us back over the country.

Not the gentle glide
in the air...

but endless pedaling...

up every mountain...

crossing the rivers and streams...

Battling winds

rains

heat

cold.

We bike for the land.

for the Red-tail Conservancy -

- the group that will protect our Land for generations to come.

So
our Land
will
always
be a
place
of
peace.

With nesting sites
for the birds...

and brambles full of berries.

So the grasses and wildflowers will grow tall...

even when
we're not there
to walk the paths.

So
the old Hickory tree will continue
to rustle
its leaves
on
Halloween
nights.

Join us for our
Flight across this Land.

Donate to Flight.

And help us
protect the Lands
all across
America.

And I must give credit - Tom took the awesome picture of the blue heron at the start - right from our back yard!

And Basey took the red-wing picture. Same back yard.

Pretty cool red wing blackbird picture ;) actually my favorites are the blackberry picture and the Hickory tree picture! I miss Halloweens out at the land!
