Spring peepers

A man came to look at the house on Jeffery Street.
A possible buyer.

He has five little kids - perfect for this house.

They could walk around the block to the neighborhood pool.

It's an easy bike ride to Riley School - if you know Monte's secret path.

How nice it would be to have a family in that old house again.

Chalk pictures on the front porch.
Oven baking fresh chocolate chip cookies.
Kids climbing the silver maple in the backyard that Alex named Ferdinand.

The man liked the back porch.
Lovely place to eat on a summer evening watching the fireflies.

I used to have butterfly garden set up near the porch with a hummingbird feeder in the middle.

We laughed to watch a hummingbird chase away a monarch butterfly one evening.

The man asked about the wet area in the backyard.

Lake Steussy-Williams the kids called it.

It is ephemeral.
That means it's not always there.

Have you ever thought of filling that in? he asked.

I slept that night at Jeffery Street - lulled to sleep by the singing of the peepers on our first warm night.

Peepers...little frogs that live in the wet area.

What would happen to them?

I love the nostalgia in many of your posts.

My work here is done (not that it ever really started). You do not need any blogging advice from me.

Thank you, Katie.
And you seem to be charging ahead in becoming a cool biker chick - 30 miles! Woo-hoo!

Cool? Not really. But charging along.
