Day 25 - Pierre to Chamberlain - a colorful day

Just 84 miles today...

No horrific weather...

but I think I need one more day of recuperation....

So back on the van for me...

It's so nice to be relaxed in the am...

I can watch the loading of the truck with 100 bags of luggage - none over 35 pounds.

The filling of the tires next to bright flowers...

The panic of wheel trouble...

Tom is feeling good...

At Chinese Buffet last night his fortune suggested Yellow...

He has a yellow bike...

And he's all decked out in yellow too!

....finally, we're off!

No, they're off...

I'm in van.

It would be a lovely bike ride - rolling green hills along the wide Missouri River...

Barb drops Phil and me off at mile 25.3.

We get to play fetch with Lucky, the 3-legged dog before we set out down the winding road...

Only later do we learn we missed the thrill of biking across the halfway mark!

But I love being ahead of the group...

I can take the time to enjoy the brilliant yellow flowers along the road....

..the fading red houses....

...and the deep green of the valleys....

Was it only a week ago we were in the high desert?

We enter the Crow Creek Indian Reservation

Home of The Chieftains.

SAG stop at the corner store and casino...

Here's Alex...

Are those new muscles in her legs?

Heading out through the town we pass families...

A sister giving her brother a piggyback ride because he'd broken his shoe.

...fellow bikers of America...

This little guy says he fell off his bicycle...

He needs to start wearing a helmet...

Suddenly our roads turn pink!

...and very hilly!

Luckily my legs feel strong today...

I can enjoy the lovely green hills...

Are you sure this isn't Ireland?

Maybe it's Canada...

Here come Michael and Matt...

So nice to see them back on tandem...

Just in time for the lovely downhill into Chamberlain

....the town with the unfinished bridge...

Time for a Power Nap...

...a bit of laundry...

and a memorable dinner at the Anchor Grill.

Goodnight to a colorful -

a delightful - day across America...

Great biking pics from the Chamberlain area. I'm a cyclist from here and appreciate seeing others enjoying it, too. Yes - our hills are challenging, but the views are worth it! Good luck on the rest of the trip & I'm sorry I missed your stop in Chamberlain!
